Shudi Chen is a multidisciplinary artist from Guangdong, China. She received her BFA in painting from Baylor University in 2017 and her MFA in Fiber from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2021.

Shudi’s work documents her journey as a young immigrant in the United States. Her practice often shifts between different media to fully explore, investigate, and illustrate the “in-betweenness” that she and many other immigrants occupy — the physical and psychological space between classes, races, cultures, languages, and politics. Through her work, Shudi continues to examine and expose senses of loss, confusion, and alienation, conveying the spatiotemporal distortion of this in-between
